Extended length base/shell for OK1CDJ iambic morse paddle key
thingiverse
Remix of Koppo's remix of the OK1CDJ morse code paddle. I've retained all of Koppo's updates for foil center ground instead of a pin, embedded ground wire and integrated 5x2mm magnetic base. My update simply extends the interior on the 3.5mm jack side, to accommodate longer jack housings as well as fitting better in the hand during use. Since the build is longer, of course I just had to also add more magnets to the base in a second version. A third version also slightly enlarges the jack through-hole to 7mm diameter. Use the same paddles and hardware included in OK1CDJ's original design, except the M3x4mm grub screws should be lengthened to 6mm to ensure they never fall out. I used Meshmixer to split, extend and rejoin the part, and Tinkercad to add more magnet recesses and enlarge the jack through-hole. Printed in PETG at 30% infill with no supports. The print I made happily accepts nine magnets, but despite post-processing efforts the tenth magnet just won't stay in there -- perhaps the magnetic fields are unsettled with that last one inserted.
