Extended Headphone Stand with Customizable Edge-Lit Nameplate
thingiverse
My headphone cables were rubbing against the base after I printed it, so I decided to create an extension to insert between the base and lift it up. Next, I added a name plate that I illuminated using "NanoLEDz" from the auto parts store. When personalizing the nametag, be sure to leave a 5mm space around the text so it fits perfectly in the holder. Note: full disclosure, I used SolidWorks to make my custom nametag with a unique font, which is why it's not available here. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator Z18 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: No Infill: 10% for the clear nametag Notes: I printed the nametag in clear filament and switched to black when the letters started printing to achieve different colors. Post-Printing To illuminate the edges, I screwed in a 12v barrel jack from RadioShack and connected it directly to the LEDs, which were placed in the channel around the nameplate slot. I designed the extension using SolidWorks.
