This CubeSat design features 12 moveable panels that increase its effective area for potential applications such as power generation or sensory experiments in orbit. The panels are extendable via a spring mechanism and can be printed using direct metal laser sintering with aluminum, resulting in a structure weight of approximately 285g. Each panel unfolds in stages: primary, extension, and tertiary. The bottom panel remains fixed and can be adapted for different CubeSat structures. If attitude control is absent, a safe mode can be used where not every panel is fully extended, with the primary panels potentially fitted with solar panels on both sides to ensure continuous energy input.
