I use a DSLR camera for astrophotography paired with my Explore Scientific ED102 APO triplet refractor telescope, which I've modified with an all-threaded imaging train for added stability. The challenge was finding an adapter to link the male threads on the drawtube to those on the field flattener, but thanks to Dave at HighPointScientific, who provided valuable assistance despite not selling a thread inverter. To overcome this hurdle, I utilized the dimensions of M54 x 0.75 mm to design and print a custom coupler featuring female threads on both ends, which effectively bridges the gap between the drawtube and field flattener. The printed coupler performs well when using a fine layer height of 0.1mm. In the accompanying photo, you'll notice a simple red ring adjacent to the DSLR camera, showcasing the newly installed all-threaded imaging train – no compression rings are now in use.
