[Experimental] Freestanding spool attachment, cut in half
thingiverse
I took this 3D print project and gave it a major overhaul, cutting the design in half to reduce space requirements. This change should improve printing quality. I tried printing the original five times, but the filament kept peeling off the printbed due to poor alignment. Rather than fine-tuning my printer, I decided to modify the design to minimize space usage. To my delight, this change paid off. The prototype is now holding a spool of filament. However, please note that cutting the design in half makes it less stable, and mine has been holding for three days so far. If your printer can print the original design, I recommend doing so instead. Be sure to keep an eye on your printer, as filaments can catch fire when heated excessively. A full spool of filament at the end of a bar is unlikely to hold forever. Print Settings: Printer: Wanhao i3 Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Notes: I suggest starting with the connector parts first, as my printer uses a 0.6 nozzle and may require adjustments for other nozzles.
