PC-451 class Submarine Chaser: Laid down on September 28, 1939, as Hull No.166 at DeFoe Boat and Motor Works, Bay City, MI, under the Experimental Small Craft program initiated on May 17, 1938. Dubbed X-Boats, these vessels were distinct in detail, classified as 165-footers. Launched on May 23, 1940. Commissioned as USS PC-451 on August 12, 1940. Deployed to the American theater of war on the east coast. Strikes and sinks U.S. tug Nancy Moran on December 26, 1941, off the Florida east coast. Decommissioned on December 2, 1945. Struck from the Naval Register on January 8, 1946. Transferred to the Maritime Commission for disposal in January 1947.
