Experimental Christmas tree
thingiverse
This is an experiment I conducted to test the feasibility of printing lines directly into thin air. If you're going to try this on your own, be prepared to tweak the openSCAD file variable so it matches the nozzle size and layer height of your printer. I managed to get enough branch layer fusing out of this trial run to print something recognizable despite some inconsistencies with layer alignment. The model's unique design features single-pass thickness lines emerging directly from a central trunk. When printed, these lines are extruded straight out into thin air before the nozzle returns to start extruding the next line, creating a closed loop as they connect and overlap.
