Expansion tanks are commonly referred to as expansion vessels, but essentially they both refer to the same component - a device designed to safely expand when water expands due to heating up inside the system it's serving, or absorb energy caused by water expansion while it cools. The most typical example is in boiler feedwater systems, such as steam and power generation where a surge of liquid from high pressure into low-pressure sections may create problems for safety devices - which could potentially trigger their operation by allowing water to pass past their activation points in one way or another; therefore they help alleviate these types pressures thereby providing overall improved control & security of these vital plant elements while enhancing user safety!
