Expansion Sleeve for Printrbot Simple Metal Spool Holder
thingiverse
I had some spools that were too wide for the Printrbot Simple Metal Spool Holder, and I didn't like how "raw" filament would slide off the end as well. I tried making a similar design that was wider and had a nub at the end to hold things on, but they were too hard to print - so I printed a "sleeve" to go over the Printrbot Simple Metal Spool Holder. Probably worthless to anyone who didn't already print the original, It helped me out so I thought I'd share. Instructions Print out - I used .4 infill and slide over the original spool. My original had warped a bit when printing, so I had to sand it "square" for it to work - if I was printing another I might increase the sleeve by 5% or so to allow for irregularities in the original print. I was going to glue mine after I checked the fit, but it's on so snugly I couldn't pull it off!
