Expanding helping objects on printing surface
thingiverse
The idea is straightforward: you require a few things that many 3D printing software programs cannot do. You need a measuring ruler in all three dimensions, simple objects without 3D modeling, and helping hands on the 3D printing surface. All you need is this package, which will surely expand over time. If you have any new ideas, feel free to share them in comments. This pack includes: A simple cube measuring 1x1x1mm - the idea behind it is that when you need precise measurement on the printing table, you can scale up or down this cube in proportion to help measure that. For example, if you need to measure 26.5mm along the Z-axis, you expand the cube to number 26.5 in the z-direction so you will know how tall something is. A simple roller measuring 1x1x1mm - it does the same thing as the cube but in a roll format; you can use this to measure the diameter of items. An empty cone - imagine if you need to support some really tall and thin object that's about to fall off the printing surface, but you cannot turn on supports because they will interfere with other parts. Then, use this empty cone, place it over a rod for instance, and slice it with it; it will give you the support you need without contaminating other parts (check out the picture). So, the idea is straightforward: give it a try if you're printing anything that requires precise measurements of height, thickness, or angle. Use these simple tools to achieve the best possible print results. Happy printing!
