Expandable Steel Sheet Holder (MK & MINI)
prusaprinters

"Slightly" overengineered flexible steel sheet holder for MK and MINI printers to be screwed to a shelf.

It's also extendable to as many as you want.

Updates

10.01.2021:

Added print instructions

Made and uploaded the MINI version \o/ (doesn't work yet, see below)

11.01.2021:

I uploaded the parts without the M3 nut holes by mistake yesterday. It's fixed now. Sorry if you printed them already.

Made the MINI side parts fit on the print bed (see print instructions below)

21.02.2021:

No need to punch through the M3 holes anymore after printing and still have perfect M3 nut holes (Thanks to @ducky)

Re-Uploaded all files, as the original filename is kept now & organised in folders

Files

Download all the "both-*" files and either the "mk-*" or "mini-*" files depending on the size needed.

Description

After printing and assembling all the parts, add M3 nuts to half of the holes (see pictures). These are used to attach additional sheet holders later.

Then use 3mm wood screws or M3 screws to screw the two sides to the shelf (using the other half of the holes). Use a steel sheet for the correct spacing. This can be a bit fiddly. An option would be to glue together the top and bottom half with a few drops of glue to prevent then to move around too much.

To add an additional holder, just use 20mm M3 screws to attach them to the first one. That's why we inserted the M3 nuts before. Don't forget to add M3 nuts if you plan to add some more holders. You can also add two holders at once using a 40mm M3 screws.

Print instructions

Print with 0.2mm layer hight. No supports needed.

MK

Rotate the side parts and connector 50° to fit on the print bed.

Adjust the "Fill Angle" by 50° too (see pictures)

MINI

The bigger side parts fit barely onto the print bed. You may cannot print a skirt or brim around it.

Rotate the side parts +/-42.5° and the connector 45° to fit on the print bed.

Adjust the "Fill Angle" by (45°) (see pictures)
