Eventually, the vacuum-operated exhaust valve in BMWs with sport exhausts will eventually fail. They start rattling at startup and later produce nasty, loud sounds at 3000+ RPM --- imagine a cross between a whoopie cushion and glass-pack mufflers...this is not a pleasant sound. The official solution is to replace the entire valve. However, since this is expensive and welded into the muffler, it's often not worth it. My 335i exhaust system is still in great shape, so there's no point in replacing it just yet. If your exhaust valve is still in good condition but you want to make more noise, this modification makes the exhaust a bit louder below 3000 RPMs. The neighbors probably already hate you anyway. This is a variation of the Golf Tee Fix, which involves disconnecting the vacuum hose connected to the exhaust valve and plugging it with a golf tee. You then push the offending hose out of the way. I'm not a golfer, and I refuse to buy a bag of tees for this application. There isn't a good place to shove the vacuum hose once it's plugged, either. And finally...a golf tee? Really? This object solves all those problems. You plug the vacuum hose onto the post on one side of the part. Then slide the part over the hose nipple on the vacuum valve and zip tie it into place. The hose has the same routing as before, and it's easy to remove if you need to make a trip to the dealership. I printed mine from eSun Pet-G with 100% infill. The exhaust valve doesn't get hot in normal operation, so anything should work. The hole for the hose nipple on the exhaust valve is sized to be a little snug going on. Once it's over the big part of the hose nipple, it's easy to zip tie into place.
