Exhaust Modeling Kit
thingiverse
These are an "exhaust modeling" or "pie-cut" kit to aid in fabricating automotive exhaust systems. There are manufactured kits out there already but I won't use them enough to warrant buying my own, so I decided to make one! This kit is designed for a 2.5" OD pipe with an 16ga wall thickness. Any bends are designed for a 3.75" bend radius and there are several pieces that come with the kit. The pie cut or coupler also includes "clocking" marks every 45* to help aid in alignment after making the pie cuts. Also each of the pieces has an included label for ease of identification and some additional information for final fabirication. Each file has a "d2.5" prefix for the "2.5 inch OD" pipe, the remaining text gives some insight to the part. Files included: ------------------------- "15" pie cut - 15 degree pie-cut, 3.75" bend radius "30" pie cut - 30 degree pie-cut, 3.75" bend radius 16ga coupler (male and female) - This is a connector designed to slide/fit to the ID of a 2.5" 16ga stainless tube. The male or female end can then be used to attach other parts from the kit. 1.5" PVC SCH40 coupler (male and female) - This is a connector design to slide/fit to the OD of a standard 1.5" PVC schedule 40 (SCH 40) pipe. These can usually be found at your local hardware store for ~$4 / 5 feet. Any "straight" runs of the exhaust can then be substituted with the PCV pipe. Note that there are some dimensions and other information on these as well, I've included notes in the post-printing section. The native 2015 SLDPRT files and an exported STEP AP214 files are all included. Yet To-Do: ------------------------- -I'm also working on finishing two more parts to the kit: -a 3" vee-band flange that will connect to the kit -and a 3" to 2.5" conical step-down -Lastly, I'm also working on a fixture jig to aid in cutting these from a standard "J-bend" pipe. They'll have a 2.5" die with the same bend-radius. I'd like to make it modular so I can eventually use different dies for different OD tube as well as different bend radius so it's taking a little bit to get how I'd like it. Stay tuned!
