Exhaust Filter for FlashForge Dreamer
thingiverse
This is a carbon filter that hooks directly onto the rear fan exhausts. I sourced high-quality carbon filter media sheets from Lowes, which cost approximately $20 - a relatively affordable price point considering the long-term benefits. The frame was crafted using ABS material, carefully designed using ViaCAD Pro software to maximize its effectiveness. By incorporating this carbon filter, unpleasant odors and fumes are significantly reduced. UPDATE 05/03/16: To enhance its performance, I added two additional spikes and increased the diameter from 2mm to 3mm. The spikes were made taller as well. This upgrade has resulted in a more efficient airflow. Print Settings: Printer: FlashForge Dreamer Rafts: No rafts are required. Supports: Yes, supports are necessary for clips only; simply remove them once the spikes have been installed. Infill: The infill percentage was set at 15% to achieve optimal strength and minimal material usage. Notes: After printing two sides and two clips on a full build plate, it took approximately 9 hours and 31 minutes. A total of 26.16 meters of ABS material was used for the entire project as shown. Design Process: First, I cut two strips that are 85mm wide. Then, from each strip, I cut out two pieces that are 116mm long to serve as the sides of the carbon filter media. The sides must have holes punched through with a push pin or pencil to accommodate the spikes. It is crucial to handle the spikes with care, as they can be brittle and prone to breaking. After installation in the box frame, simply trim any excess material, and you may need to sand or file the clip to ensure it fits snugly but not too tightly.
