Tell el-Khuweiliefeh, located adjacent to Kibbutz Lahav and approximately ten miles north-northeast of Beer Sheva, sits atop a 7-acre mound where the Shephelah and Judean Hills converge with the northern Negev Desert. The site exhibits a sequence of numerous occupations spanning from the Early Bronze Age (approximately 3500 BCE) through the Roman-Byzantine Period (circa 400 CE). Several fortified cities that once occupied the mound have left behind remains, most notably those destroyed by conflagrations around 2400 BCE, which are likely connected to Assyrian King Sennacherib's Third campaign against Hezekiah, the ruler of Judah.
