Drum Diameter = 440 mmDrum length = 287 mmMass = 17 kg Material= Aluminum/Aluminum alloy Fill volume = 38 litersFill ratio = 60 - 70% Maximum engaged length = 70 mmThis RASSOR drum features four sections, each with two excavating mouths that work together in perfect harmony. Each section houses a curved inner pathway that relies on gravity to control flaps and reduce regolith backflow during intake, while promoting efficient regolith release when dumping is complete. As the excavators move along their paths, strategically positioned flaps will be adjusted to optimize performance. When one excavator reaches the bottom of its path, collecting precious regolith, the corresponding flap will shift 30 degrees from the excavator and lock into place with a stop. During unloading, it will pivot around the same stop and allow regolith to flow freely out of the drum. Like NASA's original design, this RASSOR drum collects valuable regolith while rotating in one direction and efficiently unloads when turning the other way. The curved pathway is designed to maximize fill ratio and optimize flow rate for seamless operation.
