Excalibur Cryptex Puzzle
myminifactory
This is a fundamental logic puzzle motivated by Excalibur and the legend of King Arthur, taking on the form of a cryptex. The design combines the features of a physical puzzle and a logic puzzle into one model, with the solution being straightforward for this particular version but adaptable to accommodate any desired word length or complex key shape. Due to printing requirements, the solution is discovered during assembly, after which the cryptex can be scrambled and serves as an engaging toy or conversation piece for kids or adults alike. This design serves as a basic example of its kind; however, it can easily be modified to increase difficulty levels suitable for various age ranges. The inscription around the top and base of the stone presents a simple word puzzle reading: "The sword must be pulled from the stone by the rightful king of England." The current design dimensions have the height of the stone scaled at 10 centimeters, allowing for clear details in the final model. It can be scaled to any desired size for printing purposes. Tolerances should be carefully managed as the current scale has a 0.25mm tolerance. Disassembled views demonstrate that each piece can be printed with minimal support material due to their flat orientations. During assembly, the tower must be aligned in height order, followed by aligning the cryptex so internal slots match up, then inserting the sword, and finally scrambling the cryptex letters. This ensures the sword remains locked until the correct combination is entered.
