Exacto Hobby Knife Cap

I decided not to like the cap that came with my Exacto knife, so I designed one myself. This cap is designed specifically for the standard aluminum hobby knife with a round 8mm handle. The flat sides on the cap prevent the knife from rolling away. An internal notch accommodates blades up to 10.4mm wide and 25MM long, which includes most standard blades. The cap itself fits very snugly around the knurled aluminum handle. I also added some small tabs inside the cap's opening to make a perfect pressure-fit onto the knife's handle. These internal tabs are intentionally oversized. You'll need to force the cap onto the handle on the first fitting, and for safety, remove the blade from the handle before attempting this. As you force the cap onto the handle, the knurling of the aluminum will work like a file to shave off the edges of the internal tabs, resulting in a perfect fit.
