A vibrant installation of concrete blocks, transformed by artist EVOL into a striking housing estate façade, sits on West Poultry Avenue in Smithfield, London. Created in 2011, the blocks, numbering many more than those visible here, have been steadfast for nearly eight years and now display a faded appearance. Initially used to safeguard the Crossrail work site, they are currently situated within the development area of the new Museum of London. On-site workers express that these blocks would be considered illegal today due to their lack of anchoring and lifting points. With potential weights reaching up to one tonne, relocating them would prove extremely challenging. The ownership status of the blocks remains unclear; possibly the Corporation of London holds title.
