EVH Striped Series Neck Shim & Bridge Blocker
thingiverse
My 2 EVH Mexican made Striped Series guitars both had the neck pocket routed too deeply from the factory and the staff there had lowered the bridge way too far which caused the trem bar and bridge in general to be way too stiff. Even with using only 2 tension springs and tinkering with the setup, it just wasn't working out....until I raised the bridge so it was fully floating by a few mms and that made the bridge sooo much more easier to use. Then I realised that by raising the bridge, the string action was higher so I had to design this neck shim for the pocket of the body. Took me a few prints to get the right dimensions of the shim but the end result is better than I could hope for, an absolute joy to play now. You will need to print or buy a trem stopper to prevent any up pull of the trem bar as these guitars all have the EVH D-Tuna installed and it only works if the trem is fully stabilised, without a stopper, the tuning goes flat when using the D-Tuna. I've included files and photos so feel free to customise the files for your own guitars. Notice all of the paper that was placed in the neck pocket from the factory, to try to compensate for the deep neck pocket machining. It did make the action a bit lower but the trem being tightly screwed down on the body just made for a horrible experience.
