It is designed for the budget-conscious buyer who needs only one version of the plant. The same species can be found in 12 separate variations with different models representing various stages of maturity, health, season, LOD, and other details; look for them in the EVERYPlant store. This package offers a unique plant variation that cannot be found in any other package. Habitat: Suckow's Horsetail Tree was an extinct tree-sized plant from the Carboniferous to early Permian Period (about 360 to 250 million years ago). It likely preferred sandy riverbanks and floodplains. It appeared mainly as part of the sub-story of prehistoric forests. Range: Fossils have been found worldwide, suggesting that the plant had a global range. Notes: Suckow's Horsetail Tree was an extinct, tree-sized plant that lived during the Carboniferous and early Permian periods (about 360 to 250 million years ago). It is closely related to modern horsetails (genus Equisetum). Unlike their herbaceous modern counterparts, these plants were medium-sized trees that grew over 10 meters tall. Although its stem was woody, it was a delicate plant that grew in the sub-story of prehistoric forests. Several sub-genera of Calamites existed, and this species fell into the category Stylocalamites. It was distinct from other Calamites in that their terrestrial parts rarely branched and had limited foliage. The plant featured a prominent strobilus, missing in other sub-genera of Calamites, but found in modern horsetails. These plants grew from an underground connected network of rhizomes as well as from seeds. This package includes only 1 model of a mature, healthy, full-foliage (non-flowering) plant.
