Name: Seashore Palm Scientific: Allagoptera arenaria This Variation: 11 of 12 Habitat: Growing freely in sandy soils, especially on tropical and sub-tropical beaches. Range: Found exclusively on the east side of Brazil, it has since spread to many tropical and sub-tropical shores. Notes: A small palm often seen in sandy dunes along tropical and sub-tropical coastlines. Its subterranean trunk is rarely visible above ground.
