River Red Gum is a remarkable tree, known scientifically as Eucalyptus camaldulensis. As the continent's most abundant tree, it can grow to an astonishing 45 meters tall, quickly becoming a dominant presence. River Red Gum has been planted around the world as a popular species, but unfortunately, many have escaped into the wild, where they multiply rapidly and prove highly invasive. The unintended introduction of this Australian native has taken hold in North America, Europe, and Asia, posing challenges for local ecosystems. Characterized by dropping large boughs, sometimes exceeding half the trunk's diameter, these trees earn the nickname "widow-maker" due to their potential to catch people off guard.
