River Red Gum: Name: Eucalyptus camaldulensis Scientific Variation: 1 of 20 Variations for Eucalyptus Species. This Tree Grows in Rivers, Lakes, Streams, and Water Courses. Range and Distribution: The River Red Gum is native to Australia, and has a global distribution, but the tree thrives well beside permanent water bodies as well seasonal wetland zones. Habitat Range Notes: In many countries it grows alongside other riverside species and escapes in urban landscapes and farms and can even reach an impressive 45 meters tall! It sheds large limbs (or branches) suddenly often resulting from water-saving habits, however more probably is a symptom of their extremely fragile bark and tree trunk. They are also quite strong but very hard too due to having less moisture within its cells - so does get the nickname 'Widow-Maker.'
