Habitat: This plant thrives in coastal areas where the water is brackish and in swampy salt-marshes found in tropical and sub-tropical climates. Range: Found in estuarine ecosystems throughout the tropics, with a widespread distribution across the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, Australia, and other regions. Notes: The most recognizable mangrove tree, this plant is characterized by its stilt roots, giving it a distinctive appearance. Its seeds fully develop on the plant before dropping and can survive up to a year in saltwater, allowing it to colonize new territories.
