Habitat: Thriving on coastlines in brackish water, this plant dominates swampy salt-marshes in tropical and sub-tropical climates. Range: Found throughout the tropics, widespread in estuarine ecosystems across the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, Australia, and other places. Notes: Characterized by stilt roots giving it the distinctive mangrove appearance, this plant is likely one of the best known mangrove trees. Its seeds fully develop on the plant before dropping, surviving up to a year in salt-water, allowing it to colonize new territories.
