Habitat: This adaptable plant thrives in coastal areas where freshwater and saltwater mix, as well as in swampy salt-marshes found in tropical and subtropical regions. Range: Found in estuarine ecosystems throughout the tropics, this mangrove tree has a wide distribution across the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, Australia, and other parts of the world. Notes: This iconic mangrove tree is easily recognizable due to its distinctive stilt roots. Its seeds mature on the plant before falling, allowing them to survive for up to a year in saltwater and enabling the species to colonize new territories.
