Name: Red Mangrove LowPoly Scientific: Rhizophora mangle This Variation: LowPoly 2 of 12. A HighPoly version of this plant is also available. Habitat: This plant thrives on coastlines in brackish water and in swampy salt-marshes in tropical and sub-tropical climates, where it excels with its unique adaptations. Range: Found in estuarine ecosystems throughout the tropics, widespread across the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, Australia, and other places, making it a true global citizen. Notes: The Red Mangrove is probably the best-known mangrove tree, characterized by its stilt roots that give it the iconic mangrove appearance. Its seeds fully develop on the plant before dropping, allowing them to survive up to a year in saltwater, which enables them to colonize new territories with ease.
