Name: Red Mangrove Scientific: Rhizophora mangle This Variation: 15 of 20 Habitat: Red mangroves thrive in tropical and sub-tropical coastlines with brackish water, as well as swampy salt-marshes along the shoreline. Range: These trees can be found in a wide range of locations, from estuarine ecosystems throughout the tropics to various countries around the world including the Americas, Caribbean, Africa, Oceania, and Australia. Notes: Known for its unique appearance, this plant features stilt roots that give it the classic mangrove look. Red mangroves have an interesting seed dispersal strategy where seeds mature before falling from the tree and can survive up to a year in saltwater, enabling them to easily colonise new areas. The fully-grown model shows evidence of relative health but also displays typical issues such as yellowing leaves due to diseases and infections. Distressed -- 187,116 polygons -- 12.9m tall. With noticeable signs of increased foliage damage and disease spread, along with some missing branches. Unhealthy -- 137,621 polygons -- 13m tall. Exhibiting symptoms of overall poor health including significantly reduced leaf density or decay. Dead -- 20,010 polygons -- 12.6m tall. The model displays bare, snapped-off tree trunks without any healthy foliage left on the once-thriving red mangrove tree. Young -- 100,484 polygons -- 6.7m tall. A medium-sized young mangrove, with foliage and branching somewhat in-between a matured and younger sapling's appearance. Immature -- 33,007 polygons -- 2.5m tall. At the seedling stage, still erect and smaller without prominent development yet shown to it's adult self as far. No Fruit -- 130,270 polygons -- 12.7m tall. Same structure and dimension of mature plant, though leaves are not sprouting red drupe. Lower details could reduce strain on processing system.
