Name: Monkey Puzzle Tree Scientific: Araucaria araucana This Variation: 10 of 12 Habitat: Native to the lower slopes of the Andes Mountains, typically above 1,000 meters. It thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic volcanic soil but tolerates almost any well-drained soil type. Range: Originating from central and southern Chile and western Argentina, it has been widely propagated to most parts of the world due to its distinctive appearance, making it a favorite among botanical gardens and collectors. Notes: A majestic evergreen tree reaching heights of up to 40 meters. It is often described as a living fossil, having first appeared 200 million years ago during the age of dinosaurs. As the national tree of Chile, it has a rich history. The origin of its popular English name "Monkey Puzzle" dates back to around 1850 when Charles Austin, a noted barrister, remarked that it would puzzle a monkey to climb such a tree. Similar to the Standard model but with displacement applied to the trunk and branches for increased detail and higher poly count, intended for close-up renders. Re-meshing available upon request, including adaptive mesh for lower poly count, uniform mesh for easier editing, strict quads, tris, mixed, poly increase or decrease, etc. No charge is made to existing customers of the product. The textures included in this pack are mainly 4k (4096x4096) for detailed renders, which may be slow to load or render on some systems and may not be necessary in all situations.
