Name: Monkey Puzzle Tree Scientific: Araucaria araucana This Variation: 8 of 12 Habitat: Native to the lower slopes of the Andes, typically above 1,000 meters. It thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic, volcanic soil, but can tolerate almost any type of well-drained soil. Range: Found natively in central and southern Chile and western Argentina. Its distinctive appearance has made it a favorite among botanical gardens and collectors, leading to its propagation worldwide. Notes: Evergreen tree growing up to 40 meters tall.
