Monkey Puzzle Tree Scientific: Araucaria araucana This Variation: 1 of 12 Habitat: Native to the lower slopes of the Andes, typically above 1,000m. It thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic volcanic soil, but adapts to almost any well-drained soil type. Range: Found natively in central and southern Chile and western Argentina. Its distinctive look has made it a favourite among botanical gardens and collectors, leading to its propagation around the world. Notes: A towering evergreen tree reaching 40m tall. It is often described as a living fossil, having first appeared 200 Million years ago during the age of Dinosaurs. The national tree of Chile, the Monkey Puzzle Tree's origin dates back to about 1850 when noted barrister Charles Austin remarked that it would puzzle a monkey to climb that. As the species had no existing popular name, "monkey puzzler" and later "monkey puzzle" stuck. In its early stages, the tree is typically conical in shape, but as it matures, it develops its distinctive umbrella shape. Included in this Package: 12 models in total Standard -- 119,250 polygons -- 40.41m tall. Fully mature and in relative health. Suitable for most scenes and applications. Same as the Standard model except the trunk and branches have displacement applied to them, adding to the detail level and increasing poly count. Intended for close-up renders. Re-meshing available upon request, such as adaptive mesh for lower poly count (this is the default setting and is as supplied), uniform mesh for easier editing, strict quads, tris, mixed, poly increase or decrease, etc. No charge to existing customers of the product. The textures included in this pack are mainly 4k (4096x4096) to cater for detailed renders, which is the default map size and is included in each file format download file.
