Common Horsetail Scientific: Equisetum arvense This Variation: 3 of 12 Habitat: This plant thrives in a wide variety of conditions, frequently found in damp and open woodlands, pastures, arable lands, roadsides, disturbed areas, and near the edges of streams. Range: The plant is native to the entire northern hemisphere, with widespread growth into the Arctic circle in North America and as far south as Texas. It grows almost as far north in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia, and as far south as India and Iran. While less common in the southern hemisphere, it can be found in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Madagascar, Indonesia, Australia, and New Zealand. Notes: The common horsetail is an herbaceous perennial plant with separate sterile, non-reproductive stems and fertile, spore-bearing stems growing from a perennial underground system. Fertile stems appear in early spring and are non-photosynthetic, while the green sterile stems start to grow after the fertile stems have wilted and persist through summer until the first autumn frosts. Due to its extensive rhizomes and deeply buried tubers, this plant is challenging to control, as new stems quickly regrow from the rhizomes despite attempts at removal by fire, mowing, or slashing. Some herbicides may remove aerial growth, but regrowth occurs with a reduction in frond density. Included in this Package: 15 models in total Standard -- 101,222 polygons -- 85.72cm tall. The plant as it appears throughout most of the year, showing full growth of green stems suitable for use in various scenes and applications. Early Spring -- 60,105 polygons -- 6.9cm tall. Early growth with emerging fertile stems, ideal for early spring settings. Mid Spring -- 138,188 polygons -- 17.93cm tall. A full growth of fertile stems, perfect for mid-spring environments. Late Spring -- 191,765 polygons -- 17.93cm tall. A full growth of fertile stems with some emerging green stems, suitable for late spring scenes. End Spring -- 242,981 polygons -- 50.61m tall. Dying fertile stems and partially grown green stems, ideal for end-of-spring settings. Early Summer -- 231,685 polygons - 79.36cm tall. Wilting fertile stems and growing green stems, perfect for early summer scenes. Distressed -- 106,083 polygons -- 79.79cm tall. Showing an increased level of foliage damage and disease, as well as missing and broken fronds, ideal for distressed environments. Unhealthy -- 95,235 polygons -- 85.95cm tall. In a relatively poor state with much of its foliage missing or diseased, suitable for unhealthy settings. Dying -- 76,961 polygons -- 70.63cm tall. The plant is just hanging onto life and showing only unhealthy and diseased foliage, perfect for dying environments. Dead -- 67,398 polygons -- 86.88cm tall. Showing only bare and broken fronds and dead foliage, ideal for dead settings. Single Plant -- 3,489 polygons -- 46.22cm tall. The same as the Standard model but with only a single stem, suitable for solitary plant scenes. Less Plants -- 36,297 polygons -- 79.79cm tall. The same as the Standard model but with fewer plants, ideal for sparse plant settings. More Plants -- 223,827 polygons -- 89.82cm tall. The same as the Standard model but with an increased number of plants, suitable for dense plant environments. Smaller Cluster -- 101,222 polygons -- 85.72cm tall. The same as the Standard model but with a smaller, tighter-packed cluster, perfect for small-scale plant scenes. Larger Cluster -- 101,222 polygons -- 85.72cm tall. The same as the Standard model but with a wider, sparser cluster, ideal for large-scale plant settings. Re-meshing available upon request, including adaptive mesh for lower poly count (this is the default setting and is supplied), uniform mesh for easier editing, strict quads, tris, mixed, poly increase or decrease, etc. No charge to existing customers of the product.
