Name: Coastal Redwood LowPoly Scientific: Sequoia sempervirens This Variation: LowPoly 12 of 12. A HighPoly version is also available. Habitat: Growing in coastal mountainous regions within its range, this tree is nurtured by precipitation from the incoming ocean moisture that waters it. The tallest and oldest trees thrive in deep valleys and gullies where year-round streams flow and regular fog drip occurs. Range: Occupying a narrow strip of land approximately 750 km in length along the Pacific coast of North America, this tree's most southerly grove is found in Monterey County, California, while its most northerly groves are located in extreme southwestern Oregon. Notes: An evergreen, long-lived (1,800+ years) tree, it stands as the tallest living tree on Earth, reaching over 115m tall and surpassing the Giant Redwood's height. These trees are among the oldest living things. Valuable in the lumber industry, fossil records show that it was once more widely distributed.
