Name: Coastal Redwood LowPoly Scientific: Sequoia sempervirens This Variation: LowPoly 2 of 12. A HighPoly version of this plant is also available. Habitat: In its native range, this tree thrives in coastal mountainous regions where ocean moisture contributes to regular precipitation and consistent fog drip. The tallest and oldest specimens are found in deep valleys and gullies, where year-round streams flow freely. Range: This iconic tree occupies a narrow strip of land approximately 750 km in length along the Pacific coast of North America; the southernmost grove is located in Monterey County, California, while the northernmost groves stretch into extreme southwestern Oregon. Notes: An evergreen with an extraordinary lifespan (1,800+ years), this tree stands as the tallest living organism on Earth, reaching heights exceeding 115m. These ancient giants are also among the oldest living things, and their lumber is highly valued in the industry. Fossil records reveal that they once dominated a broader geographic area.
