Range: Occupying a narrow strip of land approximately 750 km long along the Pacific coast of North America, this tree is found as far south as Monterey County, California, and as far north as extreme southwestern Oregon. Notes: As an evergreen, this tree lives a remarkably long life (1,800+ years) and reaches great heights, with some reaching up to 115.5 m tall, making it the tallest living tree on Earth. These trees are among the oldest living things known. With its valuable timber, it is one of the most sought-after species in the lumber industry. Fossil records show that it was once more widely distributed.
