Eve - Auguste Rodin

Auguste Rodin - 1840 - 1917 "Eve" by Auguste Rodin was initially crafted for "Gates of Hell." It has become one of Rodin's most iconic sculptures showcasing the female form. Eve awkwardly stands, attempting to conceal her body as she draws her left leg inward to hide. The depiction masterfully captures the agonized moment of shame experienced through the perception of nakedness after falling into sin. Her left hand makes a defensive gesture, as if shielding herself from an impending blow. Southampton City Art Gallery
