europound one anti-warp mould
thingiverse
To prevent warping, I place pound coins on the heat table, strategically positioned away from the raft footprint so they heat up evenly. As the build surpasses the raft's height plus a single pound coin's height, I simply place a coin edge onto the raft, and as the height increases, more coins are added to counteract warping. The weight of these coins effectively halts the warping process. Larger models require more coins to maintain stability. To accurately gauge the height for insertion, I've created moulds that can be placed near the raft, allowing their rims to overlap, and the coin weights act as levered weights to prevent warping. As the model grows, when the next wall starts to emerge, another pound coin is slipped in place. This technique should also work with Euros as a gesture of goodwill towards fellow European citizens. To facilitate easy application of coins at various heights, I've created and made available one, two, and three height moulds for download - europound one, europound two, and europound three respectively. Simply position them where their rafts will overlap with the main model, ensuring they're oriented for convenient access.
