Europa Spacecraft 2016 Iteration
thingiverse
Here are two versions of a highly detailed, 1:80 scale model of the NASA Europa Spacecraft currently under development. Its primary mission will be to orbit Jupiter and repeatedly conduct flybys of the Galilean moon Europa to gather crucial data about this fascinating celestial body. Scientists believe that Europa most likely harbors a vast global warm saltwater ocean beneath its thin icy crust. The first version includes one STL file, "Non-FDM-WholeEuropa2016.stl." This design is specifically intended for printing methods other than Fused Deposition Manufacturing (FDM), and it features all assembled parts. The photovoltaic solar-panel wings are designed to rotate freely within the printed unit, allowing for maximum flexibility. To simulate the appearance of solar cells, some blue tape may be applied to the PV wings. The second option consists of three separate files that serve as an alternative to the first version. These files are tailored for popular household FDM printers and can be printed on a flat pallet before being assembled and glued together. This design has been improved upon and replaces the earlier "PSG" version of scale model uploaded here in 2016. As of July 15, 2016, it has received official approval for public release from the Europa Mission Project.
