Europa rocket

Europa rocket

prusaprinters

This rocket is consisted of a 2 part airframe, a nosecone, 4 fins, an H class rocket motor and 3d printed parts (engine block, engine tube, the electronics bay and a piston). The airframe is made of cardboard and the fins (plus the fin centering ring) are made of marine plywood. Nosecone is 3d printed and between that and the piston there will be a parachute to retrieve the rocket during descenting. The rocket is going the be launched, aiming to reach an apogee of 500 meters. At that specific altitude (apogee) the deployment mechanism will be triggered. The deployment mechanism is consisted of the items in the electronics bay (an arduino nano and a battery) and the piston. As soon as the deployment system will be triggered, a small explosion is going to push the piston upwards and that will push the parachute and the nosecone. The nosecone will be coming out of the rocket (and stay attached to it with a cord), opening the way for the parachute to be released and return the rocket safely down to the ground.
