Europa (Jovian Satellite) Globe

Europa (Jovian Satellite) Globe

thingiverse

A similar approach to my previous heightfield work on Vesta and the Moon Shot & Earth Shot models, I've created a globe of Europa - the second-largest Jovian Galilean moon. Despite being smaller than our moon, Europa is covered with a fractured ice sheet concealing a vast ocean. The model was generated using an enhanced cylindrical map of Europa based on Voyager data in Rhino3D. It was then converted into a mesh and mapped onto a sphere using the ApplyMeshUVN command with a value multiplier of 0.1. A smoothing factor of 0.1 was applied to prevent spikiness, resulting in subtle surface markings that accurately represent Europa's appearance. The globe was printed on a Replicator using settings of 3 shells, 0.27 layer thickness, 2% infill, exterior support, and scaled to match the Moon Shot model. As requested, an unsmoothed version (Europaglobefine.stl) has been uploaded, with print results awaiting from users who attempt to print this globe.
