The Airbus Helicopters Tiger, previously called Eurocopter Tiger, is a four-bladed, twin-engine combat helicopter that began service in 2003. Manufactured by Eurocopter (now Airbus Helicopters), the successor to Aerospatiale's and DASA's respective helicopter divisions, it is designated as EC665. In Germany, it's simply Tiger; in France and Spain, Tigre. Development started during the Cold War, initially designed as an anti-tank platform against a potential Soviet invasion of Western Europe. Despite the Soviet Union's fall, France and Germany continued the project, transforming it into a multirole attack helicopter. It reached full readiness in 2008.
