Etruscan Helmet

Earlier Etruscan shields display a flat profile, while later examples exhibit a slightly convex curve along their entire length. These later styles show a striking resemblance to the shield designs prevalent in contemporary Greek culture. Various helmet designs have been discovered at Etruscan archaeological sites, with one of the most distinctive being known as the "Crested Helm." This particular design features two embossed plates joined together to form a high peak pointed crest, often adorned with intricate decoration. In addition to the Crested Helm, numerous other types of helmets have been found in Etruscan tombs. Many of these designs feature a semi-spherical cap, either plain or decorated with small ornaments. Another variation on this theme includes cheek guards attached by hinges, adding an extra layer of protection for the wearer's face.
