We can imagine that this statue of a person reclining is from the Etruscan era. The Etruscans were actually the ones who most developed and employed this type of representation. Such poses are often seen in their funerary art: they adopted the practice of depicting the deceased on their sarcophagus – a tradition later taken up by the Romans.
