Found in 1956 during farming works nearby Poggio Malassarto (Populonia, LI), out of context The chronology, based exclusively on the typology of the object and on the carving style, is within the end of the 4th and the beginning of the 2nd century BCE Gasparri Collection Dimensions: width max 1,60 m, height max 80 cm, depth max 60 cm Etruscan anthropoid sarcophagus cover with the portrayal of a man (the deceased) lying down on an banquet bed. The left arm, folded to support the bust, leans against two pillows and it is covered by a mantle leaving the belly exposed. The cover is carved on a local volcanic rock also known as rhyolite, probably made in a local workshop.
