Found in 1956 during farming operations near Poggio Malassarto (Populonia, LI), out of context suddenly appeared. The timeline, determined solely by the object's typology and carving style, falls within the late 4th and early 2nd century BCE. Gasparri Collection proudly displays it. Dimensions: width reaches a maximum of 1.60 meters, height spans up to 80 centimeters, depth extends to 60 centimeters. An Etruscan anthropoid sarcophagus cover is beautifully crafted with a man (the deceased) lying down on an elaborate banquet bed. His left arm, folded in support of his bust, leans against two plush pillows and is covered by a majestic mantle, revealing the exposed belly below. The cover was expertly carved from local volcanic rock also known as rhyolite, likely produced in a local workshop with great skill.
