Ethernet Cable Clip Repair
thingiverse
These are replacement clips designed to fix broken ethernet cable clips. They attach directly to the Ethernet cable and replace the broken clip so that the cable stays securely locked into an Ethernet port. For some reason, Simplify3d doesn't like this model, but Cura works just fine. I recently posted some newer models that reflect the exact dimensions per the Ethernet spec, but I'm not sure if they work better or worse than the original design. I printed a few and tested them, and they seem to work exactly like the original design. Thanks to everyone who has downloaded these replacement clips and posted comments! Enjoy printing! Print Settings Printer: Prusa Original i3 MK2 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 100% SOLID Notes: These replacement clips take approximately 8 minutes to print on a PRUSA Original I3 MK2. To ensure they're strong enough to handle the bending and flexing, make sure you print them with 100% infill. They don't require any Supports or Rafts, and it's best not to print bed adhesion (brim/raft) because it can affect the clip's ability to fit into the port. How I Designed This Fix for Broken Ethernet Clip I had several Ethernet cables with broken clips that kept falling out of my router. While there are a few alternative DIY ways to address this issue, I wanted to tackle a simple project to help me learn basic design within Autodesk's 123D Design software. I "remixed" the STL from Jaegermeiste's "Ethernet Comb" and modified it to create a single comb with a locking clip. My design skills are still developing, but the result works well. I made two different lengths to work with various versions of Ethernet cables (see the pictures). If you're having trouble getting these clips to lock into the port, make sure the bendable portion of the broken clip on your Ethernet cable is completely removed. Feel free to modify as needed!
