Note: this is intended for SLA/DLP/LCD resin printing! :)\r\nKnotworks as a part of design have a long history, and remain much-loved today. But, how does one actually design such a thing? I started by looking at some classic designs, and realizing that by just going over-and-under-and-over-and... you get the idea... it's possible to create some amazing patterns.\r\nActually, the hardest part is to avoid losing where one is up to, and making sure each strand goes over and under the right number of times. One of those things that isn't complicated, just really easy to mess up :)\r\nSo, this particular design... I built up a knotwork ring, then applied it to a torus, fiddled around with faces and planes until I liked the proportions, and here we are!\r\nNow, this was printed in a colored resin, but I've painted it, obviously. Just a few thin coats of ordinary silver spray paint, then two coats of black applied, then immediately rubbed off, to fit into the gaps and provide contrast, and to dull the silver, and give it more of an iron look.
