The Estádio Vasco da Gama, commonly known as São Januário due to the part of its location being on the street of the same name, is the football stadium owned by the Club de Regatas Vasco da Gama. It was opened on April 21, 1927, and remains today the largest private stadium in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Its facade, in a neocolonial style, is listed by the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage. In addition, there is a bill before the City Council of Rio de Janeiro presented on May 29, 1996, aiming to list the stadium and its sports and social complex for their historic, cultural, sporting, and social value.
