Estes LTV Scout #1287 Plastic Parts
thingiverse
Plastic replica parts for the Estes LTV Scout can be created, including OpenSCAD design files. The components typically come in multiple pieces, allowing for a clean and support-free print. Reinforcement of fins can be achieved by using provided screw holes. The original model employed non-standard body tube sizes. This redesigned version utilizes currently available tubing to make the components easier to manufacture. You can download the original plans from http://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/est1287.htm. Feedback and comments are appreciated. Instructions Start by obtaining a set of plans, as most assembly instructions will follow those guidelines. Visit http://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/est1287.htm for detailed plans. Some specialized tubing may be needed: * BT-60 and BT-20 can be obtained at various stores * TT-55 is available from Aerospace Specialty Products as a replacement for SBT-139 * T-29 29mm motor mount tube for SBT-123 can be purchased from either Aerospace Specialty Products or Balsa Machining Service * C55-34 full-length BT55 coupler stock is obtainable from SBT-127 at Balsa Machining Service You will also require other standard model rocket parts as listed in the plans. Several components consist of two pieces, which can be printed to prevent supports. These components can be assembled using epoxy or plastic cement. The fins are designed as two halves that should be glued back to back. Four sets must be printed. Thin card stock is applied for a better finish and added strength. Each fin has a hole in the center for screwing or pinning it to the prp1287 base for extra support. It is likely also necessary to glue them together. Have fun with this project.
