Estela oikomorfa
sketchfab
The Bureba region in Burgos, Spain, with its main hub in Poza de la Sal, boasts a large number of house-shaped steles. These are a unique and characteristic type from the Roman era between 1st and 3rd centuries AD, unmatched anywhere else on the Iberian Peninsula.\nThey are distinguished by their building profile with two-sloped roof and pediment (in this case not differentiating from the facade) and their brief relief depicting symbols like roses, crescent moons, circles and spirals. In our example the door is rectangular and linteled, although other models exist, and lacks any type of inscription, as in most cases.\nThese steles would indicate the burial site, just like a lodged stone, with the peculiarity of representing the house of the dead.
